Chris Shingler wins Quill’s Peter Dye Memorial Shield 2023
At its AGM and CPD event legal software and outsourcing provider, Quill, awarded a trio of accolades to employees for outstanding performance in the workplace.
Chris Shingler, Quill’s Lead Test Engineer, was the 2023 recipient of the Peter Dye Memorial Shield, an award created in 2018 in memory of one of its founding directors, Peter Dye. Routinely exceeding expectations day-to-day and being 100% dedicated to the business since 2008 when he first joined Quill are amongst the reasons cited for Chris’s award win.
Clare Tuck, Quill’s Head of Client Success, comments:
“This year’s task of choosing the Peter Dye Memorial Shield winner was tricky as there were three individuals who’ve performed above-and-beyond. However, it was unanimously agreed that Chris Shingler had edged the competition. Chris has worked tirelessly over the past 12 months to smoothly roll out all new product releases. He’s the person who meticulously tests products in beta phase before they’re delivered to our client base. He’s a bridge between the product team and client success and support teams, and he’s pivotal in ensuring clear channels of communication between these critical departments. Nothing is too much trouble and he’ll do anything to assist members of all departments.
“Chris is uncomplaining and tackles all new projects head on with enthusiasm and professionalism. He’s picked up extra responsibility for dealing with third-party integrators and helps the wider Quill business garner more-useful information and statistics from the Full Story system, allowing different departments to better analyse and understand how our clients are using their Quill data and systems.
“Finally, Chris is a bit of an unsung hero who’s a genuinely lovely and caring person, interested in the wellbeing of others and keen to participate wholeheartedly in our charity events, the last one being ‘Bikes, Boats and Boots’. Needless to say, he’s a pretty cool dude too.
“All of Chris’s successes stem from his humble beginnings as a cashier in our Pinpoint outsourcing team. He’s a shining example of how you can progress within Quill if you put your mind to it and have the right determination and attitude.”
Chris Shingler explains:
“I started my career at Quill 15 years ago, initially as a legal cashier and latterly as part of our development team, sitting in my current post for 10 years. Every day brings a new and exciting challenge, and I genuinely love seeking out solutions and working for Quill. I’m extremely proud to be awarded the Peter Dye Memorial Shield. Thank you to everyone at Quill for their vote of confidence. It’s a real honour and a complete surprise.”
Newly introduced in 2023, two additional awards were handed out at Quill’s AGM to Ray Eljarrat and Su Caukill, for continually trouble-shooting IT issues and taking on extra duties on behalf of colleagues absent on long-term sick leave respectively.
Tom Wormald, Quill’s Managing Director, states:
“Without a shadow of doubt, our employees are Quill’s best asset. With so many strong contenders to choose from, selecting this year’s winner was difficult. That’s why we’ve hand-picked three individuals to spotlight, with Chris in secure first place, closely followed by Ray and Su.
“When we say Quill’s like one big, happy family, we wholeheartedly mean it. Not only is it a great place to work, it’s made up of the most fantastic people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with and leading. Well done to the triad on their awards. We value and appreciate them and the rest of our hard-working workforce.”
